Gender Diversity in the ACT: A Survey of Trans Experiences
A Gender Agenda has just released the "Gender Diversity in the ACT: A Survey of Trans Experiences" report.
On Friday the 6th of May 2011, our community space was offically opened by Deputy Chief Minister Katy Gallagher MLA. As part of the opening, our "Gender Diversity in the ACT: A Survey of Trans Experiences" report was launched by Dr Helen Watchirs OAM, Human Rights and Discrimination Commissioner of the ACT Human Rights Commission.
In late 2008, A Gender Agenda (AGA) conducted a community-based survey to get a better sense of the Canberra sex and gender diverse (SGD) community and the issues facing SGD people in the ACT including access to health care services and legal recognition of sex and/or gender and identity documents. This groundbreaking report - the first of its kind ever undertaken in the ACT (or the country for that matter) - is the result of that survey.
