Advocacy and Support

A Gender Agenda facilitate a range of primarily email based support groups, which you can read about here.

We also offer advocacy services for Sex and Gender Diverse people in Canberra. Advocacy is speaking, acting or writing on the behalf of a disadvantaged person or group to promote, protect and defend their welfare and justice. A Gender Agenda offers two kinds of advocacy, Individual and Sysems Advocacy.

Systems Advocacy is primarily concerned with changing the system in ways that will benefit Sex and Gender Diverse people, and society as a whole. This includes our efforts to lobby for changes to the law, government and service policies, and changes to community attitudes. Individual advocacy is focused more on changing things for specific individuals, and we can offer some informal advice about who to contact for individual assistance, and perhaps, most importantly, offer a listening ear when you have a problem.

• You have a story that you would like A Gender Agenda to be able to include in submissions to Government in our wider campaign for Gender Rights

Education and Training

A Gender Agenda frequently send our volunteers to provide education to all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. We do like at minimum a weeks notice, preferably more, because most of our volunteers have full time jobs, which they need to take time from in order to help you out. We really appreciate it if you can make a donation to A Gender Agenda to show us how much you appreciate our volunteers taking time off work, to come speak to your employees, volunteers or students.

Promotion, Advertising and Community Development.

If you wish to promote an event, or advertise your Sex and Gender Diverse friendly procuct or service on our website, we can arrange that.

If you run a community organisation, and would like to get more Sex and Gender Diverse people involved, contacting this email address with a description of your group is a great place to start.

If you wish to start a new Sex and Gender Diversisty focussed community group, and require assistance in setting that up, whether that be pointers on how to start, or something concrete like being set up with an email list or page on our website, we can facilitate that also.
