Volunteering for AGA

Volunteering for AGA is a great way to contribute to the sex and gender diverse community of Canberra. We can use all kinds of volunteers, from highly skilled professionals, down to unskilled children and teens.

Ways to Volunteer

Community Events

We always need people to to help us out at Community events... staffing stalls, handing out fliers, helping us pack bags of goodies before the day. Sometimes in the lead up to such events, we hold Craft-a-noons, where we get together and have a laugh while we cut out shapes, make banners or placards, laminate things, and generally prepare. Its a lot of fun, and to refer to the old cliche, many hands make light work!

Mentoring

If you are trans, intersex or genderqueer, one of your most valuable qualities is your experience. If you would like to be put in touch with other people who are still coming to grips with their identity to provide advice and comfort to them, via email, or in person, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and he'll give you a run down on what this entails. We do like to meet you before we put you in touch with anyone, and request that you attend some of our events so we can get to know you first.

- We are particularly in need of intersexed people. -

Skilled Volunteers

If you have a special skill that you think that A Gender Agenda could benefit from, please shoot us an email. There's all kinds of things that we need doing, from the design of pretty graphics for the site, through to analysis of legislation. If you are good at public speaking or writing, thats another area where you can assist us.

If you have particular advice or expertise in an area (politics, law, sexual health, youth work, medical care etc) we also appreciate the opportunity to pick your brain, and improve our skills as individuals and as an organisation.
