AGA is excited to announce the "Strength in Diversity – Building a healthy Sex and Gender Diverse Community" project.

AGA has received funding from ACT Health to run a series of events, specifically for the trans and intersex communities. The aim of the project is to provide safe opportunities and encouragent to improve physical activity, and to increase social connectivity and inclusion.

Throughout 2011, there will be;

  •   8 x physical activity events
  •   6 x skill sharing sessions
  •   8 x peer discussion workshops
  •   1 x 6-week exploratory course run by a registered psychologist for those questioning their gender identity
  •   2 x 7-week art workshops (culminating in an exhibition of created works towards the end of 2011)
  •   1 x "Mystery Event"
This means that there will be between 2 and 5 events every month throughout 2011!

The events we are running, like our community, are incredibly diverse – gym & weight training, carpentry, sewing, yoga, an information session on legal rights, self defence classes and makeup are just a few of the activities that are on offer. The aim is that there should be something that appeals to almost everyone!
