AGA at the Canberra Multicultural Festival

We had a very successful stall at the Multicultural Festival’s Community Day on Sunday 13 February 2011.

There was a great deal of interest from the mainstream community regarding issues of sex and gender diversity. I lost count of how many people approached us and said “My child/friend/parent/colleague/neighbour is trans/intersex” or “I used to work with someone who transitioned” or “It’s really great that and organisation like A Gender Agenda exists”.

In addition to the stall itself, we were also given “five minutes of fame” on the main stage. Gab Hitch gave a truly fantastic spiel about who we are, what we do and why the general community should care.
